We love short film here at The Hollywood News and we’ve managed to showcase quite a few over the past number of years. It is with great pleasure that we can today bring you a short produced by a friend of the website, Ben Mortimer. We’ve known Ben for years, mixing in the same circles and covering films very much like we do here on the site. Since then he’s gone off to further his career making movies and already has a long list of credits to his name. Augmented is his new nine-minute film and it is an absolute corker.
Every day, technology changes the way we interact with our world. Right now it’s possible to use a phone to fact check any statement, or quickly scan the social media profile of someone we’ve just met. We can slip them into cheap, off the shelf headsets and immerse ourselves in interactive fantastical environments, or use them to hunt Pokemon in the street.
Very soon, that technology will move from a device in our pockets, to a screen hovering in front of our faces. Augmented is set in a world where that has already happened, and explores the possibilities of a society where anyone can simply think, and change the way the world sees them.
Augmented is directed by Ross Peacock from a screenplay by Ross Peacock. Check it out below.
