Michael Fassbender has revealed that he will be playing more than one robot in the forthcoming Prometheus sequel/ Alien prequel Alien: Covenant. Fassbender was speaking with The Irish Times (via AVP Galaxy and Omega Underground) about the film, which will be released next August.
“I am allowed to say I am playing two robots – Walter and David. I think what’s great about it is that Ridley has gone back to the original DNA of Alien, the horror element of that. But is also has the scope and the scale of Prometheus. Ridley has cut it already. He is a machine. He is an incredible human being and he was in such good form. He is such an imaginative and mischievous figure.”
AvP Galaxy went on to say that Fassbender commented that Walter is a more advanced version of David and is distrustful of David 8 because the older model has gone a decade without any form of maintenance or upgrades.
Also starring in Alien: Covenant will be Katherine Waterston, Noomi Rapace, Demian Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez and Danny McBride. Ridley Scott directs.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Alien: Covenant will appear in cinemas from August 4th, 2017.
