Alicia Vikander is your new ‘Tomb Raider’

Lara Croft gets a new face as Alicia Vikander joins the Tomb Raider reboot. 

For those who have ever wondered what goes at behind closed doors at the Fassbender / Vikander household we reckon that a lot of gaming goes down. Michael Fassbender has spent the last couple of years bringing passion-project Assassin’s Creed to cinemas, and now his girlfriend is set to step into the game-to-screen universe. Alicia Vikander has been cast as iconic game heroine Lara Croft aka Tomb Raider in the long planned reboot.

The part was first played onscreen by Angelina Jolie but despite her best efforts the movies have gone in history as being a bit of a joke. The studios are hoping to erase those films and given Vikander’s impressive body of work she’s a great pick. She’s thought to have fought off strong competition from Daisy Ridley but we have a feeling that Ridley is plenty busy enough.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but its likely that much like the game series’ reboot a few years back the film will focus on a young Croft.
