Victims Aren’t We All?: Corin Hardy Spreads his Wings and Flies from ‘The Crow’

Interview with Corin Hardy for The Hallow

The Crow reboot has claimed yet another victim as director Corin Hardy now leaves the project. It was only last week that we sat down with Hardy to discuss his debut feature The Hallow, during which we spoke briefly about The Crow. At the time he shared that, as far as he knew, he was still involved in the project and was excited to start putting his extensive pre-production work into action.

I can say that I am still set to make The Crow and that we are awaiting the Relativity situation to settle. Until that happens I’m just waiting. I’m a huge fan of the original and I’ve done a lot of work already and I’m excited to get going.

Sadly it seems that now that Relativity have settled (the company filed for bankruptcy late last year), having been taken over by Kevin Spacey‘s production partner Dana Brunetti, Hardy’s input is no longer required. New Producer Brunetti is thought to have preferred to start the project over from the beginning rather than join part-way through.

This news is really sad on a number of levels and just goes to fuel those curse whispers that have been around ever since original Eric Draven Brandon Lee tragically lost his life in a freak on set accident. It’s also exceptionally disappointing that Hardy wasn’t able to realise his vision as on paper, and given the stylish look and feel of The Hallow, Hardy really does seem like the perfect choice.

It’s not all doom and gloom for Hardy though as he finds himself nominated for one of tonight’s Empire Awards, for which we wish him the best of luck.

News on who will take over the reins is still forthcoming, but given that the production has now lost four directors and several actors, will anyone be brave enough to sign on the dotted line?
