While many await the return of Heroes with a healthy combination of scepticism and optimism, NBC are quietly putting the cast together for their rebooted superhero property.
The mid-noughties phenomenon took television by storm after it’s debut in 2006, going on to sweep up numerous awards and critical acclaim in the process. However, the show’s sharp decline in quality and enthusiam quickly lead to a definitive cancellation, with the series (unfortunately) lacking a narrative conclusion.
However, the recent rise in superhero and comic book popularity (thanks largely to Marvel Studios), has made 2015 the perfect time for NBC to revive their former cash-cow. While the unfortunate fate of the original Heroes has undoubtedly made former cast members wary of a return appearence, we will still be seeing some fan-favourite character’s make a special return.
With Jack Coleman’s Noah Bennett already set to star in Heroes Reborn, it will delight fans to know that Masi Oka will also be reprising his role as Hiro Nakamura! The Japanese office worker/teleporter/time-traveller/samurai warrior was easily one of the most entertaining characters of the original series. So, it is certainly great news that Oka will be the second actor to make his return in the brand new mini series set to debut this Autumn. In fact, the name Hiro Nakamura will quickly evoke fond memories of the series’ signature catchphrase ‘Save the cheerleader, save the world!’
Hopefully fellow former noughties adolescents, will also be excited by the highly publicised Heroes Reborn…Something NBC is surely hoping to capitalise on over the next few months leading up to its release.
