At the end of May we at THN brought you coverage of Star Trek Live, an evening of J. J. Abrams magnificent STAR TREK accompanied live by the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra. Original composer Michael Giacchino who is probably most famous for bringing the Lost Island to life, was also in attendance.
Once the film was over Giacchino took to the stage to say a few words about his experience on the film (you can read it here). He then treated the audience to a sneak listen to the score he is currently working on, DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. Video of that performance has now appeared online and we at THN have decided to share it with all our readers:
As you can hear the score is suitably dark and rather jarring in places with the drums making very defiant bangs.
DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES sees Andy Serkis return as Caesar, who has now set up his own primate colony in the forests near San Francisco. Mankind is on the brink of extinction thanks to the virus unwittingly released at the end of RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES and sees man forced to enter the ape domain as they try to hold onto the most basic of needs, water.
The Film is directed by Matt Reeves of CLOVERFIELD fame and sees Jason Clarke, Kerri Russell and Gary Oldman join the cast. We were also lucky enough to attend an advance footage screening for the film and what we saw was truly terrific and we are more than a little bit excited for the film’s release on 17th July.
