The stunning and talented Scarlett Johansson is currently on the awards campaign trail as part of her acclaimed (voice) role in Spike Jonze’s unique romantic comedy HER. However, she’s been pressed to spill some beans regarding a bunch of conflicted superheroes set to return to our screens in the summer of 2015. Joss Whedon is back behind the camera for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, which will pit Earth’s mightiest heroes against a mysterious robotic villain intent on causing chaos. She offers a little insight into the script also coming from Whedon:
“I think the script is dark and it’s dry, it’s got this amazing one-liner, glass-cutting sense of humor. Obviously the script is very cerebral. It doesn’t lose that exciting comic book aspect that people enjoyed in the first film, but it’s smart and it feels like the next installment. It doesn’t feel like a rehashing, it feels like these characters are moving forward, plotlines are moving forward. It’s deep and I think that’s why people really respond to the Marvel universe, because the films are fun and exciting and have all that flashy stuff, but there’s a gravity to them. People can expect that gravity this time around.”
Johansson as Black Widow (aka Natasha Romanoff) will first be seen as part of the cast of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER but Whedon’s sequel will unite Marvel stalwarts Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Don Cheadle, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson with newcomers including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and James Spader. It begins shooting in March and hits cinemas 1st May 2015.
