Brand New Stills From ‘Transformers: Age Of Extinction’

T4

Michael Bay’s TRANSFORMERS films are often thought of as the marmite of film trilogies, you either love them or absolutely detest them, much like the majority of Bay’s explosion heavy filmography. I have actually thoroughly enjoyed all three of them, although I believe that the original film released in 2007 is far superior to its two successors. Despite this, each TRANSFORMERS film has been an even bigger cash cow at the global box office than the last and Paramount is no doubt hoping to repeat that trend with the next installment.

A large portion of the movie-going audience are hoping that the upcoming fourth film ,TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION, can rectify the problems of its predecessors by acting as a semi-reboot. Newcomers to the franchise Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer and Sophia Myles, among others, have been brought in to replace Shia Labeouf and co in order to take the robot smash-fest in a new direction. Earlier this week we brought you a first look at Optimus Prime’s sleek new design for the film and now we have eight brand new stills for TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION. You can see them below:

Michael Bay and Mark Wahlberg have also spoke briefly about the upcoming sequel:

“I’m feeling really good about this one. I love my cast,” Bay told us. “There’s a huge scale to this, but also huge soul”.

“Mark Wahlberg also seemed to be enjoying the experience when we visited the set. ‘Ted was a good tool to prepare me for this,’ he said. ‘Having to identify with things that aren’t there. The bear prepped me for that. And as embarrassing as doing things like the fight sequence with him were – just throwing myself around a room for 12 hours while the crew just sat eating sandwiches and watching – it taught me how to do this shit”.

“It also looks like this will not be the last instalment of the series, with Bay open to continuing the franchise, it seems. ‘Well, it’s a director’s world… It’s a franchise world at the moment. You know, Peter Jackson is still in Middle-earth…”

Well it looks like we will be seeing Optimus Prime and his team demolishing decepticons and city landscapes for a few more years to come yet. TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION will be released in the UK 10th July 2014. Check back with The Hollywood News for more updates.
