Laika Have The Whole World In Their Hands In 2nd ‘The Boxtrolls’ Trailer

Laika and stop-motion in general always impresses me. With stop-motion animation, when you peel back the surface and see how it was all assembled, it’s often even more impressive than it was in the first place. I’m sure computer animations have people working extremely hard, but when seeing the film’s assembled, I don’t just want to see people behind computer screens. Laika have harnessed this power in their latest trailer, where the majority shows the creation of the film rather than clips from the actual feature.

THE BOXTROLLS sees an unwanted human child raised by a group of mysterious trolls who have an affinity for boxes. The original teaser trailer whipped up a controversial storm after suggesting that 2 men could raise a family. Imagine that. Madness. The animation looks more classical than Laika’s previous films CORALINE and PARANORMAN, and I have no doubt it will be every bit as sweet and entertaining.

THE BOXTROLLS arrives on 12th September 2014 in the UK and 26th September 2014 in the US. It stars the voices of Elle Fanning, Simon Pegg, Toni Collette, Nick Frost, Ben Kingsley, Tracy Morgan, Jared Harris, and Richard Ayoade.
