‘Remember The Titans’ Writer Set To Honour The ‘Night Witches’

Gregory Allen Howard

Best known for epic sports drama REMEMBER THE TITANS, writer Gregory Allen Howard has signed up to pen a historical drama about a Russian flying bomb squad from World War II.  The exclusively female military aviators nicknamed the ‘Night Witches’ flew bombing missions against Germany from 1942 to 1945 and were the most highly-decorated female unit in the soviet air force losing 30 members in combat.

Producer Boris Yeltsin, the grandson of a certain former Russian president, had this to say about the project:

‘I’m in the inspiration business and this is, by far, one of the most inspirational, heroic stories I’ve ever come across. I’m honored to be a part of it, I am really excited to move forward on this project. We have an opportunity to tell a great human interest story and give these WWII heroes the credit they deserve.’

Howard also penned the story for Oscar-nominated ALI, starring Will Smith as the boxing legend, and is due to put pen to paper for 2014’s THE MAGICIAN which will follow the story of the first African American quarterback to start an NFL game.

If Howard’s previous work is anything to go by we can expect an emotional and gripping ride in the telling of this historical tale.  No release date or cast details have been announced as yet but this could be one to watch in the coming months.
