The BBC have confirmed today that their surprisingly smash hit THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF will be moving to BBC One when the show returns in 2014.
The reality TV show, which is judged by Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry, has become a huge hit for BBC Two, averaging around 7 million viewers this series. BBC One controller Charlotte Moore spoke of the move, saying she will still cherish it:
“I’ve watched the series grow over the last few years and earn a special place in the nation’s hearts. It’s inspiring and warm storytelling at its best which celebrates the huge talent of enthusiastic and passionate bakers from all over the country. It’s been fantastic to watch it flourish on BBC Two, and I can assure viewers I will continue to cherish it on BBC One.”
But this move has been quite damaging to BBC Two shows in the past, QI was once moved to BBC One before it made its journey back to BBC Two. Do you think the move will be good for the programme?
