Only weeks after it was confirmed Neil Marshall would helm a remake of Scandinavian fantasy horror TROLL HUNTER, we have news of another towering creature he’ll bring to the big-screen. The Tyneside-born director of genuine genre classics DOG SOLDIERS and THE DESCENT will write and direct an adaptation of Joe DeVito and Brad Strickland’s 2004 graphic novel KONG: KING OF SKULL ISLAND.
Universal Pictures still hold the rights to the classic tale which was last brought to the silver screen by Peter Jackson. However, Spirit Entertainment acquired the rights to this version set 25 years after the events of Kong’s tragic New York rampage in 2009, with plans to make it an animated feature film. Marshall will pen the script alongside fellow scribe Simon Uttley, which follows Carl Denham’s son as he makes a shocking discovery when venturing back to the infamous gigantic gorilla’s native homeland.
Radar Pictures will produce but we’re unsure when production will begin with Marshall soon to shoot an epic Game of Thrones episode and of course that TROLL HUNTER remake.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
