‘Jurassic Park’ Star To Make Directorial Debut

Former JURASSIC PARK star Jospeh Mazello (he played the young Tim Murphy in Spielberg’s 1993 monster hit), is set to make his directorial debut with the baseball drama UNDRAFTED. The film will be based around true events surrounding his brother, who after a successful stint at playing college baseball, was left ‘undrafted’ in the professional league, MLB. As a result, the player focusses on a recreational game with a band of amateurs to try and come to terms with his horrid rejection.

Mazello wrote the script for the film and will star, alongside Aaron Tveit, Matt Barr, Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl), Tyler Hoechlin, Manny Montana, Philip Winchester, Billy Gardell and screen legend James Belushi.

“I watched for 15 years as my brother worked tirelessly to make his dream come true only to see it never happen and it was heartbreaking,”  Mazzello told Deadline. “During that time I saw the love he and his teammates had for each other and for the game that is the heart of our story.”

Mazello, now aged 30, has appeared in THE SOCIAL NETWORK, HBO’s The Pacific, Justified, and the more recent G.I. JOE RETALIATION. Whilst continuing acting, the star also attended USC film school getting a degree in cinema and television production. Great to see him get the backing for his first feature.
