The very first trailer for the upcoming true story THE RAILWAY MAN has just been released. Jonathan Teplitzky’s film, based on the autobiography by Eric Lomax, with a screenplay by Frank Cottrell Boyce (MILLIONS, 24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE), stars Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman and Jeremy Irvine. Irvine and Firth are playing Lomax in this highly anticipated film, which also boasts strong support by Stellan Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada and Sam Reid.
Based on his best-selling memoir, The Railway Man tells the extraordinary and epic true story of Eric Lomax, a British Army officer who is tormented as a prisoner of war at a Japanese labour camp during World War II. Decades later, Lomax discovers that the Japanese interpreter he holds responsible for much of his treatment is still alive and sets out to confront him, and his haunting past. Directed by Jonathan Teplitzky, and starring Academy Award-winner Colin Firth, Jeremy Irvine, and Academy Award-winner Nicole Kidman, the film is a powerful tale of survival, love and redemption.
THE RAILWAY MAN is released in the UK on 3rd January 2013, with the US not having a set street date as yet, however expect that to change very soon as the film is set to go down a storm over in Toronto.
