At Christmas everyone has a film that they and there families all sit down together to watch during the festive period. For most films such as THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL, and IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE top the list of must-watch Christmas films, I myself however much prefer un-sickly sweet BAD SANTA. There is something about Billy Bob Thornton’s foul mouthed, career criminal Willy trying to turn his life around after meeting young boy Therman Merman that I enjoy.
It’s not just myself that feels this way and talk of a sequel to BAD SANTA has been around for a while. Now though we have confirmation that star Billy Bob Thornton is more than on board with the ideal of bringing the character back to the screen for a second outing:
‘I loved playing that character. It’s become an iconic movie, and the public wants to see a sequel. I said, “I’ve never done a sequel, but it makes sense to me to do this sequel.” It’s the kind of movie you do a sequel for, so I was all for it.’
Whether or not it goes much further than the talk stage still remains to be seen but as always THN will keep you posted.
