This weekend, the movie world has been focussed in on the Toronto Film Festival, where a host of stars are turning up to promote their upcoming movies. One such actor is Hugh Jackman, who was in town to give interviews for future release PRISONERS (read our news stream here), and MTV News managed to sneak in a question where the actor was asked about Ben Affleck’s casting as Batman. His reply was quite positive. Naturally.
I think Ben is a great actor. I think he’s been underrated for a long time. He’s obviously a great director. He’s a very smart guy. That guy doesn’t make decisions that aren’t well thought out, that aren’t great. I know him a little bit and I know he’s going to relish the opportunity to go and crush it. I have no doubt he’s going to crush it.
You can see Jackman’s interview in video form here (all forty-ish seconds of it, which is basically the comments around the casting). Plus, if you want to see what Vin Diesel thinks of the casting, then go here. Apparently he doesn’t, and I quote… ‘give a f**k who plays Batman’.
PRISONERS, which also stars Jake Gyllenhaal, opens in cinemas in the US on 20th September, and the UK a week later on 27th September. As usual we’ll have a review up as soon as humanly possible.
