Fantastic 21st Raindance Film Festival Programme Announced

THN are excited to announce full details for the 21st Raindance Film Festival and a whole host of brilliant event they’ve got to offer the the Vue Piccadilly from 25th September – 6th October and it’s Europe’s largest independent Film Festival.

This year, they’re set to host over 300 films and 40 events and also they’re presenting Britain’s first Web Fest that takes place on 28th and 29th September.

Raindance will exclusively screen the highly anticipated WAYLAND’S SONG, a gritty thriller about an ex-soldier dealing with physical and mental scars on returning from Afghanistan, starring Rob James-Collier and Orla Brady and directed by Richard Jobson, and the award winning EARTHBOUND starring Rafe Spall as a man who believes he is an alien from another planet hiding from intergalactic bounty hunters.

The festival will close with THE MACHINE, a sci-fi thriller starring Toby Stephens and written and directed by Caradog W. James.

The festival will also feature some of the newest and most exciting factual and music films in its Documentary and Raindance Symphony Orchestra strands. The variety of films selected for this strand cover everything from the aftermath of the nuclear meltdown in Fukushuma to the rise and fall of 80s rock band Skum Rocks, to the tale of a six year old skateboarding prodigy and YouTube sensation.

Web Fest will feature a packed schedule of panel discussions, with subjects covering audience development, lessons from YouTubers, product placement and branding, and future of web tv. There will also be world premiere screenings, including Producing Juliet, the latest from Tina Cesa Ward, whose previous series Anyone But Me captured over 35 million views.

The annual Raindance Awards Ceremony takes place on the 5th October, with films judged by influential figures from the media world including, Jason Flemyng, Julian Assange, Beth Gibbons and Sean Brosnan. One short film will be crowned ‘Film of the Festival’, winning an Academy Award ® shortlist position.

Raindance will also be running its expert-hosted Events Series which will cover the entire world of filmmaking, from the old-fashioned basics to the cutting edge advances, including tips on funding movies through crowd funding.

In partnership with Vue Entertainment, the Festival is launching the Raindance Popcorn Pass which entitles customers to unlimited admissions at Vue Piccadilly during the 10 days of the festival. The pass costs £100 and entitles customers £20 to spend on retail items in the foyer, except alcohol, and an additional 20% off further retail items in the foyer.
