Mick’s Back In First Images From Greg McLean’s ‘Wolf Creek 2’

A sequel to the controversial Australian shocker WOLF CREEK has been in the works for quite some time now but filming finally began this summer and is complete. Once again, Greg McLean directs. The original fact-based thriller, merging the infamous case of the murdered Brit Peter Falconio and the gruesome acts of Outback serial-killer Ivan Milat, created one of cinemas most realistic boogeymen in John Jarrett’s Mick Taylor. A seemingly eccentric and likeable bushwacker with a well hidden sadistic streak.

New images have emerged from WOLF CREEK 2, which is sure to up-the-ante on the gore front in an effort to compensate from the fact the “head on stick” secret is out regarding Jarrett’s vicious villain. The backpacking cast surly given a rough ride include Ryan Corr, Shannon Ashlyn and Philipe Klaus. No release details as yet but expect it next year.

Lured by the promise of an Australian holiday, backpackers Rutger, Katarina, and Paul visit the notorious Wolf Creek Crater. Their dream Outback adventure soon becomes a horrific reality when they encounter the site’s most infamous local, the last man any traveler to the region ever wants to meet; Mick Taylor (John Jarratt). As the backpackers flee, Mick pursues them on an epic white knuckled rampage across hostile wasteland. Only one will remain to be dragged back to his lair to witness the true magnitude of his monstrosity. And if the last man standing is to have any hope of surviving where no one else has survived before, he’ll have to use every ounce of cunning to outwit the man behind the monster and become every bit as ruthless as the monster inside the man.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
