Continuing the trend of big name directors attached to TV projects, the multi-award winning Danny Boyle has been attached to direct the pilot for a new show from Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong, the creators of Channel 4’s Peep Show. The show will be called Babylon, is a comedy-drama about modern day British cops and will also be made for Channel 4. Maybe we’re due some of the lighter side of real life crime fighting with the incredibly tense Luther having just wrapped up, seemingly for good.
Bain and Armstrong were also behind the 2010 comedy film FOUR LIONS, bringing together slapstick, smarts and suicide bombers in an seemingly uneasy to winning combination. The pilot looks to air next year and given the big names already behind the scenes, don’t be surprised if it gets picked up for a series.
