Possibly one to watch come award season, director Brian Percival‘s World War II drama THE BOOK THIEF lands its first (and possibly trying too hard) trailer. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Markus Zusak and adapted by Michael Petroni, telling the harrowing story of young Liesel Meminger (Sophie Nélisse). An early teenager adopted by a loving family during the rise of Nazism in World War II Germany. She uses her love of reading as a way to rebel against the rise of the infamous and evil regime led by Adolf Hitler.
Oscar-winner Geoffrey Rush and acclaimed British actress Emily Watson portray her new parents in the film arriving in the US on the 15th November and the UK from the 31st January 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
