New Images Of ‘The Normal Heart’ Find Their Way Online

The filming for Ryan Murphy’s THE NORMAL HEART is now under way in New York City and it all looks rather heartbreaking doesn’t it?

THE NORMAL HEART, which will be showing on HBO sometime in 2014, tells the story of the HIV/AIDS crisis during 1981-1984 in New York City. The story is told through the eyes of writer and activist Ned Weeks (played by Ruffalo), the gay Jewish-American founder of a prominent HIV advocacy group. Ned prefers loud public confrontations to the calmer, more private strategies favored by his associates, friends, and closeted lover Felix Turner (played WHITE COLLAR’s Matt Bomer), none of whom is prepared to throw himself into the media spotlight. Their differences of opinion lead to frequent arguments that threaten to undermine their mutual goal.

In the first image, we see Ruffalo and Taylor Kitsch, who plays Bruce Niles in the movie, hugging in front of a crowd and then the set photos, there’s Kitsch carrying a sobbing Jonathan Groff who plays the character Craig. The film also stars THE BIG BANG THEORY’s Jim Parsons, plus Julia Roberts, Denis O’Hare and Joe Mantello who played the Ned Weeks in the Broadway show.
