Super excitement Batman! Yet another GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY cast member has been unveiled and it’s just as unexpected and fantastic as all the other news we’ve heard about the film. Karen Gillan will take on a role as a villain who is yet to be named. Karen Gillan will already be familiar with sci-fi geeks the world over as The Doctor’s companion in DOCTOR WHO. Gillan left the show at the end of last year, but it would appear her intergalactic travels aren’t over just yet. Gillan will be seen on the side of evil alongside Lee Pace and fellow Brit Ophelia Lovibond.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is Marvel’s only new franchise started in their Phase 2 of the Marvel cinematic universe, and is proving to be quite the ambitious gamble. Offbeat and independent director James Gunn is directing the project which sees a group of beings joining an intergalactic police force. THE AVENGERS of space if you will.
Gillan is an exceptional actress and who doesn’t want to see her as a villain? After finishing DOCTOR WHO she has already completed roles in NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING and OCULUS. I also met her once at a Doctor Who Convention. She signed my Dalek picture, I made her laugh, it was a good day.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is released 1st August 2014. It is directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Lee Pace, Ophelia Lovibond, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly and Dave Bautista.
