Here is the first trailer for inspirational epic THE BUTLER. Forest Whitaker stars as African-American butler, Eugene Allen, who works in The Whitehouse. The film will span over three decades and eight presidents, as Allen is witness to many changes in the history of his country and the politics of the world. Lee Daniels, director of PRECIOUS, has assembled an astonishing all-star cast, including some of the greatest black actors working today as well as some cinematic legends filling the roles of the presidents. I like how the film isn’t too concerned with grabbing lookalikes, but has certainly captured the feel of each president. Although, Alan Rickman as Reagan is a dead ringer.
This is one of the most empowering trailers I’ve seen in recent years and it also avoids the usual Oscar-bait sentimentality. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a number of Oscar nominations being attributed to this film in the acting categories.
THE BUTLER is set for an 18th October release in the US, with a UK release date yet to be determined. It stars Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, Cuba Gooding Jr., Terence Howard, David Oyelowo, Lenny Kravitz, Nelsan Ellis, John Cusack, James Marsden, Liev Schreiber, Robin Williams, Alex Pettyfer, Jane Fonda, Melissa Leo, Mariah Carey, Vanessa Redgrave, and Alan Rickman.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
