Even though his last project might have been a horror to some (that would be the third film in the TWILIGHT saga) director David Slade will be returning to thrillers on the big screen. It was revealed that Slade, who directed films such as HARD CANDY and 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, is attached to direct psychological thriller THE WIDOW. The story, which is penned by Ray Wright, follows a young woman who befriends a lonely widow only to discover that their friendship was not a coincidence. Vendome Pictures will be financing the project, with their CEO Philippe Rousselet producing.
Rousselet said that the company are thrilled to be working with him.
“We are thrilled to be working on this piece with David. He is such a dynamic filmmaker, and we are excited about his vision to make this movie a throwback to some of the most iconic thrillers in cinematic history — not to mention the two females leads being the strongest and most interesting we have seen in some time.”
The small screen had taken Slade for a while, executive producing and directing some episodes of the television adaptation of HANNIBAL, so his return to the big screen will be very welcomed indeed.
