HARRY POTTER and THE WOMAN IN BLACK actor Daniel Radcliffe is to don an American accent to star in a new film called TOKYO VICE, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Radcliffe will play journo Jake Adelstein in the film, who heads east to report on the exploits of the criminals of the Tokyo underworld, including the infamous Yakuza for Japan’s biggest newspaper. Anthony Mandler, a commercials director will helm the film, which is based on a script by JT Rogers.
THR have the full synopsis:
Tokyo Vice covers the adventures of Jake Adelstein, a crime reporter on the Yomiuri Shimbun, the largest newspaper in the world by circulation, from his beginnings as the first westerner in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Press Club to his expose on a yakuza boss given a liver transplant in California.
Sounds like another meaty role for Radcliffe, who seems hell bent and intent on moving away from the bespecktacled wizard with every project. Shooting kicks off in 2014.
