Tom Cruise’s OBLIVION may have kicked off the early summer slate with some genuinely jaw-dropping visuals (if very little else) but a lot more film fans are anticipating the actor’s frequent collaborator J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi sequel, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS. We all know by now that the crew of the Starship Enterprise are up against Brit thesp Benedict Cumberbatch’s avenging Federation spy John Harrison, but we’re sure the film will have a few more surprises than Kirk and crew raising their eyebrows at his deadly anarchic endeavours.
Check out this second clip from the film starring the returning Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Anton Yelchin, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, John Cho and Bruce Greenwood. It reaches the final frontier of UK cinemas from 10th May and will boldly go to the US on the 17th May. Newcomers to the franchise reboot include Peter Weller, Alice Eve and Noel Clarke.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
