There’s always a good solid drama that gets missed by the masses and SHADOW DANCER, directed by James Marsh (MAN ON WIRE) and written by Tom Bradby, is no exception. It already hit the UK last summer and is now gearing up for a US release, quite possibly on the back of the deserved, new found success of Andrea Riseborough who’s been finding her feet in OBLIVION and WELCOME TO THE PUNCH.
The film is set in 1990s Belfast, where Riseborough’s character Colette is an active member of the IRA and then becomes an informant for the MI5 in order to protect her son’s welfare. That MI5 agent is Clive Owen, who gives another sturdy performance in this solid, paced thriller that deserves another look.
