With so much focus on all of the female based young adult adaptations that are coming our way, it’s easy to forget that just a few years ago we were wrapped up in fantasy adaptations focusing on young lads. That was all thanks to a geezer known as Harry Potter, and one of those similar franchises was Percy Jackson, which sort of replaced wizards with Greek gods. PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF was released back in 2010 and it was just about successful enough to garner a sequel. PERCY JACKSON: SEA OF MONSTERS seems to be aiming at a broader audience in this new trailer, as it really emphasises some bonkers humour. The first film was a genuine enjoyable surprise and hopefully with all the cool creatures on display here, we’ll be able to overlook some big casting changes and enjoy another youthful adventurous escapade.
PERCY JACKSON: SEA OF MONSTERS is released in the UK on the 14th August and in the US on the 16th August. It stars Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, Nathan Fillion, Stanley Tucci, Jake Abel, Alexandra Daddario, Sean Bean, Anthony Head, Levin Rambin, and Missi Pyle.
Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
