We recently brought you some interesting news regarding potential casting for Universal Pictures adaptation of E.L. James’ kinky page-turner, FIFTY SHADES OF GREY. While Emma Watson laughed off suggestions that leaked documents had her in line to take the female lead Anastasia Steele, we may have discovered the first genuine name in talks for the role of the billionaire backside buttering bonker, Christian Grey.
ARROW’s hulking heartthrob Stephen Amell, known for his role of bow-carrying crime-fighter Oliver Queen in CW’s small-screen hit series confirmed he’s had meetings for the role.
I get questions about Christian Grey all the time. That project is a long way off. I know this, because I had a meeting about it. A long way off. I mean, not that long, but not close. I wouldn’t call it long, but I wouldn’t call it close.
The best-selling novel follows billionaire businessman Grey and his seduction of young college student and virgin Anastasia Steele. Their relationship evolves into an erotic romance of filthy BDSM exploits that left housewives damp and their men having to indulge in the pleasure of their own palm (or turning to prostitutes) until all three books had been complete. Yes, you know which group you’re in!
The wife is still holding out for Matt Bomer so don’t break her heart Universal! As for the role of Anastasia, Sacha Grey’s a cracking actress. She’ll let people put it anywhere (apparently).
Would Amell be your choice?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
