We’re seeing a welcome return to horror anthologies of late, with the likes of BLACK MIRROR, V/H/S and THE ABCS OF DEATH, which takes me back to a time of OUTERLIMITS and THE TWILIGHT ZONE. Here’s yet another one, SANITARIUM, which has a great little gimmick in that each story will follow a mental patient as an asylum. The trailer works for me thanks to the sinister voice-over of Malcolm McDowell and the use of a song that works in conjunction with the visuals, but isn’t your usual horror trailer choice. The film is directed by relative newcomers yet to make it big, Bryan Ortiz, Bryan Ramirez, and Kerry Valderrama. This is one worth paying close attention to, even if only to see John Glover go mad at a bunch of Tim Burton dolls.
SANITARIUM is yet to receive a release date. It stars Malcolm McDowell, John Glover, Robert Englund, Lou DIamond Phillips, and David Mazouz.
