It’s been kept fairly secretive up until now, with a very plain poster, soundtrack teaser and some concept art being revealed. Butnow we have the first official shot from Bong Joon Ho’s English language debut SNOWPIERCER. The film sees a class struggle upon a train that houses the world’s only survivors after the coming of a second ice-age. This first image shows Korean acting legend Song Kang Ho, as one of the lower classes aboard the train. The concept art is quite amazing, showing the train known as SNOWPIERCER travelling through the ice, as well as some swimming pools which probably belong the the upper classes.
Here at THN we are looking back over the films of the Korean masters making their English language debuts this year in our THN’s Korean Cinema Style series, and although we are yet to start looking at the films of Bong Joon Ho, we have already covered a number of Song Kang Ho’s great performances, such as THE QUIET FAMILY, THE FOUL KING, THE GOOD THE BAD THE WEIRD, and JSA.
SNOWPIERCER is yet to receive a release date, but should be approaching around summer. It stars Chris Evans, Song Kang Ho, Octavia Spencer, Jamie Bell, Tilda Swinton, Ed Harris, John Hurt, Ewen Bremner, and Alison Pill.
