While he’s currently starring in MEN IN BLACK 3, it looks like Tommy Lee Jones has kept himself busy between shoots. A new image has surfaced of him featuring in world-war film EMPEROR, directed by Peter Webber (GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING, HANNIBAL RISING).
Set days after the surrender of Japan during World War II, Jones stars as General Douglas MacArthur, who runs a staff of people during the War. On that staff is General Bonner Fellers (Matthew Fox) who is charged with reaching a historical decision – asking whether Japanese Emperor Hirohito should be charged with being a war criminal. Based around true events, the film tracks the actions of the two men and the decisions they make.
Having starred in numerous drama epics over the years, Jones is more than capable of leading the cast. Fox (having starred as Jack Shepard in TV series LOST) also has more than enough acting experience to carry off this intense role.
EMPEROR, directed by Peter Webber, is currently being shown at Cannes Film Festival.
