Produced by The Weinstein Company, Sci-Fi project APOLLO 18 has begun filming today in Vancouver, British Columbia in the local studio’s there.
The film is slated to be lensed on a tight schedule from December 20 through Janiary 13, 2011 to be released theatrically in March.
Shawn Williamson of Vancouver-based Brightlight Pictures is executive producing the “found footage” project by Spanish director GonzaloLopez-Gallego. Timur Bekmambetov and Michele Wolkoff, president of development for Bekmambetov Projects, are producing. The film was scripted by Brian Miller.
Miller’s script won the inaugural Astana International Action Film Festival screenplay competition, founded by Bekmambetov. Trevor Cawood was originally set to direct the project, but was recently replaced by Lopez-Gallego, who is making his English language directorial debut.
