Who knows what we should make of this little nugget. Formerly attached to THE HOBBIT, Guillermo Del Toro has been offered and rejected the director’s chair on the 2012 GODZILLA reboot.
Del Toro claims that no formal offer was made by Legendary Pictures, the company now helming the project.
“I am not involved in GODZILLA at all,” Guillermo says “I haven’t read it or plan to read it. Nor have I been approached to direct it.” So I’d say thats pretty definitive news folks unless major Hollywood organisations do their business via emails and the postal service.
Presumably, the company need to find a director before the end of the year for the movie to still hit it’s Summer 2012 date otherwise we could be looking at Christmas 2012 which is usually a grave yard for the movies. Del Toro is currently busy working on his long-time love project THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS.
