Now that the crocked MGM Studios has got to the point where it can siwtch on the preverbial green light for Peter Jackson’s THE HOBBIT movies; attention has invariably turned to the possibility of reviving BOND 23. The 23rd BOND movie should, if all had gone to the original plan, be shooting around about now, helmed by former husband of Kate Winslet, Sam Mendes and Daniel Craig as James Bond alongside Rachel Weisz and Dame Judi Dench. But then, nobody was betting that MGM would go to the wall.
Producer David G Wilson, talking to IGN, says that things aren’t moving just yet.
“We’re in a holding pattern to see what happens with the studio. We support them – we’ve had a long relationship for a long time and it’s really important for us to get going again. They just have to sort out their financial issues,” he said.
When pushed for an answer on the start date for the new BOND project, he did concede that “They have a plan going forward, and hopefully everything will go to plan and we hope to be in a position next year to start the film again.”
He confirmed that Sam Mendes is still attached to direct and also noted that work on the script stopped when the pre-production process was brought to a halt. So it’s back to work on the script and then a shoot could still be theoretically possible for 2011…
