Zack Snyder has apparently been chosen as director for the upcoming, Christopher Nolan produced, SUPERMAN reboot according to reports circling around the internet.
Beating a long list of filmmakers with varying degrees of expertise and experience in the pantheon of comic book movies and lore, Snyder was chosen for the extremely high profile project after a meeting with the producers. Other directors that were rumoured to be under consideration for the job included Guillermo Del Toro, CLOVERFIELD’S Matt Reeves and Robert Zemeckis.
Little has been released with regard to this reboot however Christopher Nolan has praised screenwriter and long term collaborator David Goyerfor his ” incredibly exciting take on the Man Of Steel“. According to Nolan, plans for the Superman reboot stemmed from when he and Goyer stalled creatively while discussing the sequel to the 2008 mega-movie THE DARK KNIGHT.
“It was the first time I had been able to conceive of how you would address Superman in a modern context,” Nolan explained to Empire magazine in June 2010 and “I thought it was a very exciting idea.”
If the reports around Snyder prove correct, then it could mean drastic changes in the busy calendar of the film-maker which currently includes next year’s effects-laden action movie SUCKER PUNCH” as well as a spin-off of the popular movie 300 called XERXES. With apparently as many as EIGHT projects attached to his name, the film-maker could need to shift some films around to make room for Clark Kent and his super alter-ego.
Of course, with the director attached; the next logical step is finding the Man of Steel. Nolan stated to MTV News that “I haven’t even thought about it, to be honest”.
Still a ways away then i’m guessing…
