Mark Ruffalo will actually ‘play’ Bruce Banner and The Hulk

Mark Ruffalo is going to get to play both Bruce Banner and The Incredible Hulk in the planned Joss Whedon directed The Avengers. When we say ‘play’, we mean that the Zodiac star will be the first actor to have his performance motion captured to play the big green superhero. All of the previous Hulks were 100% CGI.

Speaking to NY MAG, Ruffalo said:

“I’m really excited. No one’s ever played the Hulk exactly, they’ve always done CGI,
They’re going to do the ‘Avatar’ stop-action, stop-motion capture. So I’ll actually play the Hulk. That’ll be fun.
But, it seems that the actor is just as keen to play Hulk’s alter ego, Bruce Banner.

“I really love the first TV version of it, the Bill Bixby one,” he explained. “I’m gonna shoot for that a little bit. He was an everyman in it. He’s always on the run and trying to find love. It’s really a sympathetic character, before he turns into the Hulk and f*cks everything up.
Banner has been played by both Eric Bana in Hulk and more recently by Edward Norton in Louis Letterier’s The Incredible Hulk.
