The Star Wars Trilogy is coming to Blu-Ray in 2011!

Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox have finally, thank the Lord announced that the entire live-action Star Wars saga (that’s all six films) is going to hit Blu-Ray in the Autumn, or Fall as our US friends say it, of 2011.

The announcement was made at the Star Wars Celebration V event in the US over the weekend.

The release promises “the highest possible picture and audio presentation, along with extensive special features – including documentaries, vintage behind-the-scenes moments, interviews, retrospectives and never-before-seen footage from the Lucasfilm archives.

Blu-ray is the absolute best way to experience Star Wars at home – in pristine high definition,” said George Lucas. “The films have never looked or sounded better.

The word is that only the special editions will be available on the new format, but we’re amped to see the never-before-seen stuff.

STAR WARS has been the talk for years about its “surround sound” as some called in during early 80’s if it wasn’t for DOLBY who pioneered and made advanced audio improvements not just 35mm optical but for 70mm.
