A Missouri resident has been sentenced to two years in jail and a $24,738 fine for illegally making a recording of Warner Brothers’ 2008 movie The dark Knight. Robert Henderson videoed a screening of the Christopher Nolan movie in a cinema on its opening day of June 18, 2008, and apparently went on to sell the film on DVD.
Motion Picture Association of America senior vice president of content protection Mike Robinson said:
“This is an appropriate sentence for a very serious crime, and we hope it will serve as a warning to would-be movie thieves that they will face severe consequences for engaging in these activities.”
Henderson pleaded guilty to the criminal copyright infringement charge.
