The Teaser Trailer:

News Updates:

Monday, December 19th, 2011 – After months of speculation, teasers, and promos (including a six-minute prologue currently screening before some IMAX screenings of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL), the first full trailer is finally here. It is, of course, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, the highly anticipated three-quel to Christopher Nolan’s Batman series.

Just officially released by Warner Bros, the trailer gives a little info, but also raises a load more questions – why exactly are the daggers out for Gordon? What is the extreme danger to which Alfred refers? How does Catwoman figure is Bruce Wayne’s life? And what exactly is villain Bane’s dastardly plot?

Whatever the answers, there’s no doubt that THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is going be explosive and the film event of 2012.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is is directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levit, and Gary Oldman.

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011– Fans only have to wait until July to experience the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise. Last week the writer/director showed journalists and bloggers seven minutes of his final venture into Gotham City before releasing this same footage in some IMAX theatres to be shown before screenings of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL. Before the exclusive preview Nolan discussed how the final days of shooting the vigilante epic were, and how he hopes what he has done with the franchise will please Batman fans.

‘I tend not to be too emotional on the set,’ he said, ‘but you definitely get a little lump in your throat thinking that, “OK, this is going to be the last time we’re going to be doing this”. It’s been quite a journey. Hopefully, reflecting that journey — by all of us who made the films — in the three films together will make it so they have a real span to them, some real heft.’

When asked about the hero’s fans, Nolan said, ‘It’s terrific to have people that interested in something. It reminds you that it is a real honor to work on something that means so much to people…[the fans] want it to be great, they want to go enjoy it and they’re fascinated by it. You know, there’s always controversy regarding things that people will disagree with but hopefully they appreciate the effort of trying to make something good.’

Nolan’s mention of doing things ‘people will disagree with’ coupled with the newly released poster has gotten fans wondering. The poster portrays a torn off Batman costume with a shady man walking away, with no indication as to whether it is Bruce Wayne or not. Text above the image reads, ‘ THE LEGEND ENDS’. Is Christopher Nolan killing off the Caped Crusader?! We can only wait to find out.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is released in the UK on 20th July 2012 and has an all-star cast including Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Anne Hathaway.

Saturday, December 10th, 2011 – Earlier today on THN we saw the dark and intriguing new AMAZING SPIDER-MAN teaser poster but here’s something that raises the film stakes even further, it’s the hot-off-the-press THE DARK KNIGHT RISES teaser poster with the menacing tagline ‘The Legend Ends’.

With all the prologue excitement surrounding Bane and the IMAX showings (OperationEarlyBird) coming up next week, this poster focuses on the image of Bane walking and a broken, shattered Batman mask on the floor, drowned in the rain. Yes, it’s just another poster but it is also undoubtedly going to set the rumour mill spinning even more as…The Fire Rises.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is out on July 20th, 2012 but for the moment enough of the talk and onto the poster action:

Thursday, December 8th, 2011 – It’s official that those ‘leaked’ CIA documents that were mysteriously released on Wired and Empireonline this morning ARE part of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES viral/marketing campaign. How do we know? By their The Fire Rises Twitter page releasing a new image of a document which has led us all to a whole new website with a countdown that – currently – will give us more information of some variety within the next 24 hours.

I remember THE DARK KNIGHT viral campaign vividly, hours lost, secret puzzles, awesome codes, all gradually worked out as the Joker took control of the Batman stratosphere. This is all seemingly leaning towards Bane and his prologue, although in what exact way we don’t yet know.

In the meantime, keep an eye on TheFireRises and also, more intriguing, the Operation Early Bird website, it’s counting down as we speak…We’ve also added all three images so far just below for your viewing pleasure….Excited? Absolutely.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES hits cinemas on July 20th 2012. Directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard and Juno Temple.

Friday, December 2nd, 2011 – t’s been churning in the rumour mill for some time, but Warner Bros have officially announced that the THE DARK KNIGHT RISES prologue will be shown before selected IMAX screenings of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL this month. Details are listed below in an official press release from the studio;

Warner Bros. Pictures’ “The Dark Knight Rises” — the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy — is one of the most anticipated films of 2012, but moviegoers won’t have to wait until next year to see the six-minute opening sequence of the film. The film’s prologue will be unveiled exclusively in select 70mm IMAX® theatres worldwide. The Prologue will be released in North America on December 16, and in the UK on December 21, 2011. Additional international dates vary by territory and will be announced soon.

In making the 2008 blockbuster “The Dark Knight,” Nolan was the first to use IMAX® cameras in a major motion picture release, and, as now, audiences were given an advance look at that film’s prologue months prior to the Summer 2008 opening. Nolan employed the extremely high-resolution cameras even more extensively on “The Dark Knight Rises”—including the film’s prologue—to achieve unprecedented crispness and clarity and a truly immersive experience for the moviegoers.

Christopher Nolan stated, “Our experience on ‘The Dark Knight’ shooting and projecting IMAX 15 perf 65mm/70mm film was inspiring. The immersive quality of the image goes beyond any other filmmaking tool available, and in revisiting Gotham, we were determined to shoot even more of the movie in this unique format. Giving the fans an early look at an IMAX sequence is a great way to draw attention to what I believe will be an incredible way to experience our story when it comes out next summer.”

Opening on July 20, 2012, “The Dark Knight Rises” features an international all-star cast, led by Oscar® winner Christian Bale (“The Fighter”) in the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar® winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”), as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake. Reprising their roles from both “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight,” Oscar® winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules”) plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar® winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”) plays Lucius Fox.

Nolan directed “The Dark Knight Rises” from a screenplay by Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on “Batman Begins” and the record-breaking blockbuster “The Dark Knight.” Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull are the executive producers, with Jordan Goldberg serving as co-producer. “The Dark Knight Rises” is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman created by Bob Kane.

“The Dark Knight Rises” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. The prologue has been rated PG-13 by the MPAA for “some violence.”

Monday, November 28th, 2011– In the build up to the highly- anticipated film, Christian Bale has dished the dirt on his THE DARK KNIGHT RISES co-stars.

Speaking to the Phillippine daily Inquirer Bale said “I’m terrible at auditions, so I’m very impressed when somebody really seems to acquire an ownership of a character without having worked on it or prepared for some amount of time. I saw that in Anne,” he told the newspaper about Anne Hathaway “In many ways, she has the hardest job. There are a number of people who feel that the Catwoman role has been defined previously. So, I always saw Anne’s role as being the toughest job of any of us.”

About Tom Hardy, who plays Bane, Bale added that he is “a phenomenal actor. I like working with him a great deal. He goes the whole hog. I know that Bane has been seen in movies before. But, in my eyes, Tom is essentially creating Bane for the first time so there’s great freedom for him to be able to do so.”

And about Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bale said that “Joseph is a very intriguing guy… He’s somebody who truly seems to love acting. He’s a good, smart guy. He did a very good job in the movie.”

He also talked briefly about Christopher Nolan’s Batman. “We always maintained from the beginning that if you wanted to break it down, there are three personas – Batman is sincere, the private Bruce Wayne is sincere. The public version of Bruce Wayne, the playboy, is a completely fabricated performance.”

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is directed by Christopher Nolan and will be released in UK cinemas on 20 July 2012.

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011– Variety’s Jeff Sneider has been hinting that the prologue to Christopher Nolan’s Batman sequel and a teaser for Peter Jackson’s THE HOBBIT will be attached to prints of SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS. Guy Ritchie’s super-sleuth sequel starring Robert Downey Jr. is released 16th December and this news gives fans an extra incentive to go see further enjoyable adventures of the iconic detective from Baker Street.

It was previously expected that both THE DARK KNIGHT RISES first seven minutes and THE HOBBIT teaser trailer would attached to Tom Cruise’s next Ethan Hunt adventure MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL.

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011– Excitement of all kinds have exploded from the THN camp after Christopher Nolan and Tom Hardy have finally given us some mouth-watering news on what to expect from the massively anticipated THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. As well as revealing their two new covers showing Batman & Bane officially, Empire magazine have also got epic and ‘brutal’ insights about what to expect from the prologue and where we’ll pick up the story after THE DARK KNIGHT.

Christopher Nolan exclusively revealed: “It’s really all about finishing Batman and Bruce Wayne’s story. We left him in a very precarious place. Perhaps surprisingly for some people, our story picks up quite a bit later, eight years after The Dark Knight. So he’s an older Bruce Wayne; he’s not in a great state.

“With Bane, we’re looking to give Batman a challenge he hasn’t had before. With our choice of villain and with our choice of story we’re testing Batman both physically as well as mentally.”

So, all the rumours of it beginning immediately after the second film – or even as a slight back story – are crushed, we believe that Nolan loves his work to have a full circle but will he really conclude this massive tale? The other exciting news is Tom Hardy talking about the behemoth that is Bane.

Previously he was horribly portrayed as a brainless thug, it’s great to hear that he’ll be equally – and literally – massive as well as a psychological test for Batman. After Hardy’s WARRIOR and BRONSON, we know that brutal is something he can do more than effectively and he’s not holding back on the action here either as he also had this to say:

“He’s brutal. Brutal. He’s a big dude who’s incredibly clinical, in the fact that he has a result-based and oriented fighting style. It’s not about fighting. It’s about carnage. The style is heavy-handed, heavy-footed, it’s nasty. Anything from small-joint manipulation to crushing skulls, crushing rib cages, stamping on shins and knees and necks and collarbones and snapping heads off and tearing his fists through chests, ripping out spinal columns. He is a terrorist in mentality as well as brutal action.”

Wow. There’s sure to be more official confirmations coming up over this week and at least, more scraps that excite the masses. Everyone is hoping that this doesn’t disappoint and as it’s been said so many times previously by fans and the actors involved with him one-on-one In Nolan We Trust.

Monday, November 7th, 2011 – Although not released until next year, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is the film that downtrodden spirits everywhere are speculating about. The third instalment of Christopher Nolan’s take on the series, which will introduce Selena Kyle (Catwoman) and Bane, has seen filming taking place all around the globe; including parts of India, London, Glasgow, Los Angeles, New York, and Pittsburg.

Beware: Potential Spoilers Ahead!

Several new videos have emerged containing set footage of an epic battle scene filmed on Wall Street in New York. The clips below hint at an answer to the ever-present question: in what dire circumstances will ‘Bats’ and Gotham City find themselves in this time?

The scenes focus on the battle between Bane’s mercenaries, the police and Batman, in a riotous Gotham City. Bane has had control of the city for several months, according to one onlooker, whilst the entire Police force have been locked away underground. Subsequently, the cops – led by Matthew Modine’s character, Nixon – are armed and let loose on the mercenaries in a bid to take back city hall.

One extra on the set described their objective in the scene: ‘let the cops through the mercenaries. Show resistance, but let them through; especially Modine.’

The constant drip-drip of rumours and set photos continues unabated with these latest shots from THE DARK KNIGHT RISES shoot. This time, it’s our first proper glimpse of the handsome and talented Joseph Gordon-Levitt. TDKR will be his second collaboration with Christopher Nolan, after he was propelled to mega stardom with INCEPTION.
He plays NYC cop Jon Blake and can be seen along side Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne. In one of the shots, we see, what is presumably, one of Wayne’s many badass cars being hauled away. What could this mean? Did Blake pull over Wayne for having an expired tax disc? Or maybe they were just bringing the car on set. It’s best not to over analyse these shots, but one thing is certain.

JGL looks banging in his uniform.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is scheduled for release on July 20th 2012. More images here.

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011 – Get ready to book your tickets for the IMAX screenings of JJ Abram’s MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL but not only for interest in the new Tom Cruise feature but also for a sneak peek of the eagerly anticipated THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

It’s been officially confirmed by AMC Theatres that there is a 6 minute (SIX!) prologue for the final part of Christopher Nolan’s epic Batman trilogy. This is similar to 2007 when THE DARK KNIGHT opening sequence was attached to the I AM LEGEND print that was also released at the IMAX, however, it’s also worth noting that this will only show on the 70mm screens and not the ones with digital projection.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL is due for release in the UK on 26th December so there is time to prepare yourselves, we’ll also be keeping an eye out for those confirmed venues closer to the release date.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is due for release July 20, 2012 and stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman.

Thursday, October 13th, 2011– Christopher Nolan has added yet another name to the conclusion of his epic Batman trilogy. FINDING FORRESTER and COACH CARTER star Rob Brown has joined THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, the most hotly-anticipated film of 2012.

Brown has joined the production in an unspecified role, suggesting that Nolan’s three-quel still has a number of secrets up its Bat-sleeve.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES co-stars Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, and Gary Oldman. It arrives in cinemas 20th July 2012.

Friday, September 30th, 2011– After auditioning for the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in BATMAN BEGINS and unable to oust favourite Christian Bale, Cillian Murphy impressed Christopher Nolan enough for the director to cast him in the key role of The Scarecrow. Murphy’s character then reappeared for a minor cameo in THE DARK KNIGHT.

It now has be confirmed that Cillian Murphy will indeed be seen once again in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. The news comes after the actor was spotted by fans, filming a scene for the third outing for the rebooted Batman franchise.

It is unknown how big the role will be this time out, but it is great that Nolan sees the need to include quality actors  in characters that may not be heavily featured to link his three features together.

Sunday, September 25th, 2011 – The steady stream of pictures, videos, spoilers, and tidbits continue with these new photos from the set of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. These particular images – also featuring Christian Bale as Batman and Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon – have put speculation to rest over Anne Hathaway’s costume. Following the initial photos of  Catwoman, there was a certain amount of unrest amongst Bat-fans regarding a lack of, er… ears. But as we see from these new pics, Hathaway’s outfit comes complete with the iconic cat ears, a look possibly achieved by popping her goggles on top of her head. Either way, these pics have amped up the excitement to 11 and beyond.

A year has never seemed so damn long…

Monday, September 12th, 2011 – Footage from an L.A shoot for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (2012) has popped up online and gives an insight into the potentially chilling climax to the feature. Pittsburgh shoots have already been rumored to have used snowy backdrops and now recent L.A footage appears seemingly arctic.

The potential for an appearance from characters Christopher Nolan (director) had initially given a frosty reception to begins to seem more likely… Christian Bale, wearing shorts and a t-shirt, acts out the scene with Gary Oldman until Oldman’s Commissioner Gordon quickly scarpers off set for fear of falling through the fake ice.

Director Christopher Nolan claimed that characters Mr Freeze and The Penguin would not feature in the film but icy sets suggest perhaps he isn’t giving the two crooks the cold shoulder after all? THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is directed by Chris Nolan and starts Christian Bale, Michael Caine, and Anne Hathaway. It arrives in cinemas 4th June 2012.

Saturday, September 10th, 2011 – Here’s some brand-new images (courtesy of  comicbookmovie) from the DARK KNIGHT RISES shoot.

Here we see more detailed close up images of what could be Christopher Nolan’s version of the Batwing, followed below by a sneak peak at Batman himself in the cockpit  and Anne Hathaway (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA) teasing us with the hints of a leather look suit under a cape sleeve jacket, suggesting that perhaps this could be part of the new Catwoman costume?

Thursday, September 8th, 2011 – Good God almighty, a year has never seemed so far away… and the constant stream of images, videos, and rubber-clad tidbits are certainly not helping the drawn-out bat-fever.

Here’s some brand-new images (courtesy of Just Jared) from the Los Angeles DARK KNIGHT RISES shoot, featuring Christian Bale as playboy Bruce Wayne, and Anne Hathaway as a very dolled-up Selina Kyle.

Come on Nolan, get a sodding move on…

Monday, September 5th, 2011 – Even more stills from the set of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES  have surfaced. This time it’s Anne Hathaway, who plays Seline Kyle (otherwise known as Catwoman), kicking some be-hind.

JustJared posted the below image of Hathaway as she stops a thief stealing a little boy’s apple. Also there’s a large pileup happening as On Set LA has snapped another location in the film. LA’s 3rd Street tunnel has been closed for several days for preparation, with what looks like the contents of a junkyard sprinkled with snow. Reported to be 20-foot high, the wall of cars could be a big stunt.

Monday, September 5th, 2011 Dark Horizons has published the first stills of Christopher Nolan’s new Batcave in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

The Batcave is something that has been missing from Nolan’s vision of the Dark Knight and was only briefly seen in BATMAN BEGINS, mainly because he blew it up. News came out last week that exterior footage will be filmed at a waterfall in Brecon Beacons, Wales. Of course they’re not going to use the interior of said waterfall so a massive sound stage in LA has been transformed into what you shall see below. Dark Knight Rises Rumours have hinted that extra footage of the caves will be shot in the Salina Turda Slat Mine, Transylvania, just to give it that authentic feel.

What do you think of the Cave? Does this new Batman need the Cave?

Monday, August 22nd, 2011 – So what’s this? Another variation of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES film poster? Well, yes, but this one was printed in a US newspaper to thank the residents of Pittsburgh, PA, for their involvement in the production of the Christopher Nolan movie.

Shooting on the movie now moves on to New York and Los Angeles on the filming of the third film in the series. It hits cinemas on July 20th, 2012. Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Nestor Carbonell, Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, Joey King, Brett Cullen, Chris Ellis, Josh Stewart and Christopher Judge star.

This is nothing new, but anything TDKR just rocks my world. Check it out.

Saturday, August 13th, 2011 – You may have seen our earlier report showing a snap of the mysterious new Batman vehicle from THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, well now it’s been caught on film. And you know what? It doesn’t make anything clearer. Is it the Batwing? Is it something new that springs from the Tumbler, like the Batpod in THE DARK KNIGHT? We’re buggered if we know, see if you can work it out. ‘Citing, though, eh?

Saturday, August 6th, 2011 –

Images are spilling all about the place concerning the new Nolan Batman film, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, and this past week as seen a number of those images focusing on Catwoman.

Now the production has released a full body image of Anne Hathaway fitted out as Seline Kyle. Have a look below.

Friday, August 5th, 2011 – Further to today’s  first-glimpse of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Just Jared has posted a number of pics of her stunt double. The images show Kyle – better known as Catwoman – tearing it up on the Batpod. Needless to say, the feline warrioress looks suitably saucy and nails hard.

THE DARK KNIGHT is directed by Christopher Nolan, and co-stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Marian Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, and Gary Oldman. It arrives in cinemas July 2012.

Friday, August 5th, 2011 – A year has never seemed so long. But that’s how long Bat-Fans will have to wait for Christopher Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. But between cheeky set-side photographers and Warner Bros/Legendary Pictures, there’s no shortage of teasers, images, and rumours to sink our teeth into. Not least of all is this brand new pic (courtesy of Bleeding Cool)  of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman. However, this image may throw up more questions that answers – why is she on Batman’s bike? Is that the full costume? Is she a friend or enemy? One thing’s for sure – Hathaway looks smokin’ hot as Kyle, and this picture has only served to amp up the excitment levels. Meow indeed.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES also stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Marian Cotillard, Michael Caine, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It arrives in cinemas July 2012

Sunday, July 31st, 2011 – A year seems like an awfully long time, Bat-Fans, and the excitement mounts with every day that passes. And today is no exception, as Just Jared has posted these cheeky snaps of Tom Hardy from the Pittsburgh set of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Hardy, as any fan will know, is decked out in full Bane garb, looking suitably dark and villainous.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is directed by Christopher Nolan, and stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It arrives in cinemas July 2012.

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011 – We were all frantically getting very excited indeed about a teaser trailer for THE DARK KNIGHT RISESlast night when this superb INCEPTION-esque poster for the film was released by Warner Bros. The one-sheet promo debuted over at the film’s official website.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is released on July 20th, 2012, and stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Nestor Carbonell, Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, Joey King, Brett Cullen, Chris Ellis and Josh Stewart.

Check out the poster below. This really is art!

Monday, July 11th, 2011 – Okay, so apologies for the teasing post title there, but we have been looking at some wild internet rumours that appeared over the weekend that we are about to be treated to the teaser trailer for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES very, very soon. Well, after the news broke over at SuperHeroHypethat the very precise one minute and thirty-three minute teaser would be attached to HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART TWO, which hits on Friday. The post said that SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS and HAPPY FEET 2 will also see promos attached to the last Harry Potter movie.

Now, the very good Canadian website Joblo.com reveal that a ‘friend of theirs’ named Mr. B has received a hard drive at the cinema that he works at, and yes, the trailer for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is on it. We’ll keep digging deeper, and bring you an update as to when it eventually arrives online. Which it undoubtedly will.

Friday, July 1st, 2011– As you may, or indeed may not know, the next installment in director Christopher Nolan’s Batman series, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, is filming all over the place at the moment, including Nottingham, England where the following footage was grabbed.

This looks like it could be Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale), knocking on the door of some grand house (actually Wollaton Hall), with a bright yellow NYC style taxi hanging outside. Apparently it’s Selena Kyle (Anne Hathaway) at the end of the video who walks up to Wayne and leads him away.

No idea as to where this would fit into the movie, but it’s pretty cool all the same.

Check it out.

Thursday, June 16th, 2011 – Be warned – reading on may well spoil some major plot details for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

As the film production is underway, rumours are flying left, right, and centre like a wayward batarang, and this latest story promises to shed some light on the hotly-anticipated Batman threequel. The ever expanding cast has given us a few surprises thus far – such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, and Marion Colittard, and this latest rumour may be the biggest surprise yet.

According to HitFix, Liam Neeson has been spotted on set for the movie, suggesting that the presumed-dead Ra’s al-Ghul could be making a comeback . It’s possible that Neeson could be appearing in the form of flashbacks, however, Josh Pence has already been announced for this role as a younger version of the character. THN suspects that Ra’s al Ghul will indeed return to the action, and that Marion Cotillard may be revealed as his daughter Talia.

The film is shrouded is secrecy and it’s unlikely we’ll get full details until its release next year.

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

An image has been debuted at the Licensing International Expo that could well be the new bat-threads from upcoming Batman threequel. Chris Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is undoubtedly the most hotly-anticipated superhero flick on the radar, and after the success of THE DARK KNIGHT, promises to be a huge hit with fanboys.

The new image is relatively close to the previous bat-suit, but close inspection will reveal adjustments for further ability, which should help Batman (Christian Bale)  lay the smacketh down even more effectively than before. Whether this is indeed the actual suit for the next movie remains to be confirmed.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES hits cinemas next year.

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011 – Josh Stewart has joined the cast of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, though Variety, who broke the news, say that the role that he will play in the Warner Brothers movie is being kept under wraps.

Stewart is known for performances in THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON, THE COLLECTOR and LAW ABIDING CITIZEN.

TDKR has a huge cast, that includes Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Nestor Carbonell, Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, Joey King, Brett Cullen and Chris Ellis.

Christopher Nolan directs the film, which is already in production.

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011 – THE DARK KNIGHT RISES has another two names in it’s cast list this morning. According to Variety, Brett Cullen and Chris Ellis will also appear in the Christopher Nolan driven movie at Warner Brothers, which is now shooting. According to the trade the two actors will play a judge and a priest, respectively.

Both actors appeared in Ron Howard’s APOLLO 13 with Cullen a comic book veteran after already playing Barton Blaze in GHOST RIDER opposite Nicolas Cage.

Also in the impressive DKR cast are: Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Nestor Carbonell, along with roles for Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, Joey King, Alon Aboutboul, Burn Gorman and Diego Klattenhoff.

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011 – Three more actors have been added to the cast of the in-production THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, the third film in the series that started BATMAN BEGINS. Those actors are: Matthew Modine, Tom Conti and Joey King. Modine will be playing a character named ‘Nixon’ in the film, while Conti’s and eleven year old King’s roles have not been disclosed by the studio or Variety, who broke the news.

I’m guessing that blonde King will be up for the role of Batgirl in the film and will Kick Ass just as much as Chloe Moretz did in the movie of the same name. I also kidding, but who knows – maybe Nolan will throw us a massive curve ball.

We’ll wait and the see. The film is currently lensing in London, but will move on to other locations around the world as the production moves on.

Friday, May 20th, 2011 – There has been some kind of viral reveal going on over at the new Batman website for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES that has been promising to reveal our very first look at British actor Tom Hardy as villain Bane in the Christopher Nolan movie. Now it seems, it has all been revealed (through Twitter), and here it is!!!

Look at the size of him!

The website is just a blank web page, with a very funny sound coming from it. It’s kind of freaking me out. Apparently the audio is a chant repeating ‘the fire rises’ over and over again. This Twitter page also had something to do with the proceedings that led to the big Hardy reveal. To me it looks like a pixelated mess, but the high-res image above appeared a little while ago…

What do we think? BANE!!!!!!!!

Friday, April 29th, 2011 – More details on the proposed India shoot for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES has been revealed. The production will arrive in the city of Jodhpur at the beginning of May, and shoot there for just two days.

The Times of India have the skinny:

[Christopher Nolan] will be in Jodhpur to shoot “The Dark Knight Rises” with none other than Christian Bale. However, no other Hollywood actors from the film will be part of this shooting schedule in India.

Incidentally, Nolan had come down to India in December to scout for locations in Jodhpur. That was when he chose to shoot in Jodhpur’s Mehrangar Fort. The main crew will start arriving from May 1. Christian Bale is expected to arrive in India on May 4 or May 5. Though permissions have been sought for shooting the film for the whole of May, the unit will shoot in India for only two days – May 6 and May 7.

Incidentally, hotels in Jaipur and Jodhpur have been booked for the crew. Says a source, “Nolan had scouted locations in both Jodhpur and Jaipur. But, he fell in love with Jodhpur and decided to return to film here. They are coming with a very small unit of around 15 people and will be shooting here for two days. There are no Bollywood actors being cast in the movie. But, local actors and crew members might be roped in. The unit wants to use the beautiful fort as the background for the movie. However, nothing is known yet whether Jodhpur will feature as an Indian city in the movie or not.”

More here.

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011 – Well, this is somewhat surprising news this morning, but an Indian newspaper is reporting that Christopher Nolan’s production of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is heading to the Indian city of Jodhpur to film key scenes.

I have actually been to Jodhpur, and the place is so picturesque with its blue-painted houses around the Mehrangarh Fort. Jodphpur is the second biggest city in the Indian State of Rajasthan, and I loved by very brief time there. Really intrigued to see what Nolan is planning for the Sun City.

Vroom vroom…..and even before you realise Batmobile may have blazed past you at a thunderous speed, right here in Jodhpur. Wondering what we’re talking about? Get set to welcome DC Comics superhero Batman as he arrives in the Blue City.

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has given the nod to US-based Cape Road Productions to lense the next Batman flick, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ in Jodhpur.

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011 – We have official confirmation on what characters Joseph Gordon Levitt and Marion Cotillard will be playing in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

Here is the relevant info from the press release:

Cotillard will appear as Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.

Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon.

Now I don’t remember these characters from the comic book world of Batman and seem to of been created purely for the film but just because Cotillard and Levitt’s characters have been named doesn’t mean that they will not have duel identities, espeically since this this a heavily reoccurring theme from Nolan’s films. Here’s what Nolan had to say about the actors and characters:

When you collaborate with people as talented as Marion and Joe, it comes as no surprise that you would want to repeat the experience. I immediately thought of them for the roles of Miranda and Blake, and I am looking forward to working with both of them again.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is due out July 20th 2012.

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011 – Filming location details for Christopher Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT RISES are starting to filter through information wise on the www. The Pittsburgh Post Gazette report that the superhero movie is set to start shooting in their city after the British director was impressed by their stunning and diversity of architecture.

“Pittsburgh is abeautiful city,” Nolan says, “We have been able to find everything we were looking for here and I am excited to spend the summer in Pittsburgh with our final installment of Batman.”

Meanwhile Bleeding Cool reports that the film will also be returning to a location used for BATMAN BEGINS. The site reports that the filmmakers will return to shoot at Senate House in Russell Square in London which was the location for a courtroom scene in Nolan’s first Batty outing.

Monday, March 21st, 2011 – We reported news from the trades over the weekend that reported that Joseph Gordon Levitt had joined the cast of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, which is true and indeed 100% confirmed. We then reported that the role that he may be playing was that of Alberto Falcone (the Holiday Killer), the son of former mob kingpin Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson). Well, today EW are refuting the claim, and say that while he’s in the film, that isn’t the role that he’ll be playing.

I’m not too au fait with Batman villains or indeed the whole Batman comic book history, so I couldn’t even begin to speculate as to what role he’ll be up for playing in Christopher Nolan’s third movie in the trilogy. I’m guessing The Riddler… Chime in with your thoughts.

Sunday, March 20th, 2011Variety have a piped up with an update with the news that we already knew that the character that Joseph Gordon Levitt will play in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is not The Riddler, or indeed Deadshot. No, the INCEPTION star will play Alberto Falcone, the son of Mafia chieftain Carmine Falcone, the character Tom Wilkinson played in BATMAN BEGINS, according to sources of the trade, which gives it much more weight than this time yesterday, as reported by Paul Koren.

The character also goes by the name The Holiday Killer. Check out the awesome WikiPedia‘s description of said character below:

[The Holiday Killer] is a fictional character appearing in the Batman story The Long Halloween (1996-1997) by writer Jeph Loeb and artist Tim Sale. The true identity of the killer is never definitively revealed in the story itself; both Alberto Falcone and Gilda Dent admit to being Holiday, with Gilda claiming she committed the first three murders and that someone else (she believes her husband Harvey) took over from there.

The word is that Juno Temple may also be joining the cast as a ‘street smart Gotham girl,’  which we also kind of reported yesterday. Temple is best known for her roles in high profile films ATONEMENT ans ST TRINIANS 2.

This is Juno Temple (below). Also, I really like this art that sprung up overnight…. and I really like Juno Temple.

Warner Brothers are still yet to comment on the above rumours…

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is set for release on July 20, 2012. Christopher Nolan directs.

Saturday, March 19th, 2011 – Rumours have been circling since INCEPTION was shooting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt might be cast in Nolan’s final Batman film. Well those rumours are no more as Levitt is officially confirmed.

Its not a total surprise but its always good to have some confirmation. Now there is no news on who he’ll play so casting back to more rumours one of the most probable roles he could play is that of Alberto Falcone who is part of a notorious Gotham crime family, read the BATMAN: LONG HALLOWEEN series to find out more. Like I stated this isn’t set in stone as previous rumours about who Thomas Hardy would play turned up false.

Other Bat news is the possible casting of Juno Temple (GREENBERG). Variety reports that she is looking at “a supporting role as a street-smart Gotham girl”. Bleeding Cool have suggested the character is that of Holly Robinson, the new sidekick of Catwoman’s but I think it might end up being Stephaine Brown, a one time romance of Tim Drake’s Robin as well as  being the current Batgirl.

Friday, March 11th, 2011 – Nothing like a bit of ‘non-news’ to end up a very busy week on is there? Here’s Aaron Eckhart out doing the rounds to promote his new movie BATTLE: LOS ANGELES, which is out eveywhere now, talking to a CBS reporterwho asked him if there was any chance that his character of Harvey ‘Two Face’ Dent would be reappearing in any form in the next Batman movie THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Eckhart’s reply? He could not possibly say. Smiles.

There have been reports that Eckhart has met up with Christopher Nolan recently, but who knows why? Is this why? Wha?

Getting hard information from any of the major players in “The Dark Knight Returns,” from director Christopher Nolan to the actors involved, has not been easy.

Earlier this week in an interview with MTV, Gary Oldman, who plays Jim Gordon in “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight,” said he hadn’t yet seen a script but knew the story was great.

Monday, February 21st, 2011 – Actor Tom Hardy appeared on tonight’s Alan Carr: Chatty Man TV show in the UK where he spoke about his role in the soon-to-be-shooting, and the movie-that-I-am-most excited-about The Dark Knight Rises for Christopher Nolan.

While not revealing a lot, Hardy did briefly touch on the physical shape that he would have to get in for his character of the villainous Bane. “We shoot in May, and I’ve got to go back up to 13 – 14 stone, and I am 12 1/2 now. So, I’ve got to bulk up.”

Hardy famously ‘bulked up’ for his break-out role Bronson (see above), so will he adopt a similar shape for the character in Nolan’s Batman sequel?

We’ll see… Hardy also touched upon talk a potential sequel to Inception, which I am sure that Warner Brothers would almost certainly want because of the collossal financial success of the original. Whether Nolan will want one is another thing entirely.

“We all signed a sequel deal… I don’t know it they’ll make one but…” Hardy added on the chat show. Now, actors pretty much sign sequel deals to most big-budget movies like Inception these days, and the remark was made in passing on the show, so take from that what you will… Personally, I think that a sequel is very, very unlikely…

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011 – If you haven’t had chance to check out the enviable Movie Fan Central over at Joblo.com, then you really should. Think of it like a Facebook social thingy, just for movies. Anyway, the point of this article is that a user of the site has just posted what could be the very first set image from The Dark Knight Rises... of none other than Arkham?

Wowser!!!!

Is this real? is this authentic? Comment your backsides off below.

my good mate who is working on set at cardington where it’s being shot sent me this

ARKHAM

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011 – Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a whole bunch of movies coming your way in the next year or so, including Looper, Live With It and Hesher, but it looks like the actor, who we last saw in Inception, may be adding another title to his resume in the form of The Dark Knight Rises.

According to Deadline, the actor is in talks to star in his Inception helmer Christopher Nolan’s next Batman movie. While the studio or producers have not confirmed the news, I would take Deadline as a pretty solid source of info.

If the news is true, he will join the already cast Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway.

So, who do we think he will be playing then? The Riddler?

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011 – According to the man himself, Christopher Nolan, The Dark Knight Rises, the third film in his Batman saga, will start shooting in May of this year!

Speaking at this year’s Santa Barbra festival over the weekend, the British director said (of the script): “We’ve worked on it a long time – (screenwriter) David Goyer and myself. We’re about 12 weeks away from shooting.” Nolan said.

Also, as previously discussed, it looks likely that this will be Nolan’s last film in the series as he said that “It was about finishing the story.”

Tom Hardy is confirmed to play Bane in the movie, while Anne Hathaway is on board to play Selena Kyle, the woman who eventually becomes Catwoman.

Friday, January 21st, 2011 – There has been a lot of info hitting the web this week regarding THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, and now here’s some news on where the movie may shoot some of it’s key scenes. The Romania Business Insider, via SuperHeroHype, are reporting that producers recently met with officials about Bucharest’s historical center, Edgar Quintet Street or the Palace of Parliament.

The film’s director, Christopher Nolan was also recently seen in Romania, so are we going to see Batman rise over there?

Other key cities in the US that the film will shooting are Detroit, Chicago and Los Angeles, where the film’s production offices are housed. The UK  is also said to be being used once again.

More details soon.

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 – Warner Brothers Pictures have announced that none other than Anne Hathaway will play Selena Kyle, the lady that becomes Catwoman, in the next Batman movie, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. The film will go into production later this year with Christian Bale returning to the role of Batman/ Bruce Wayne.

In a press release released by the studio earlier on today, director Christopher Nolan said: “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”

In addition to Hathaway’s casting, it was revealed that Tom Hardy, who we knew had a part in the movie, will actually play the character of Bane in the film.

Thursday, November 18th, 2010 – There has been much speculation concerning THE DARK KNIGHT RISES with multiple female leads possibly for the roles of Catwoman, Poison Ivy or Harley Quinn. Also with the hire of Tom Hardyand which role he will fulfil with most peoples money being in Harvey Bullock.

An insider to the production has leaked that Hardy will play Dr Hugo Strange.  This makes the most sense I believe has, originally in the comics Strange was a psychologist brought in by the GCPD to figure out who Batman is.  Slightly unbalanced to begin with Strange manages to work out Batman’s identity but keeps it to himself for nefarious purposes.  He later goes on to create monsters and other silly things which I doubt will end up in Nolan’s film.

But it does fit with the current film continuity of Batman being on the run and Commissioner Gordon being under pressure to reveal who he is and bring him in.  Of course this is still conjecturer but it’s a strong bet on coming true, even though I’m hoping on Black Mask popping up somewhere.  If Hardy is Strange or not we will soon find out in the coming weeks no doubt even if it’s clues through the impending wave of viral marketing assaulting our senses in the coming weeks and months.
