The Avengers (1998) Movie Review - Reviewed by: Adam Mast, Zboneman.com

There isn't really much I can say about this big mess of a movie except that it looks pretty good. I'd like to say cheers to the Art Director but unfortunately, great art direction does not a good movie make.

Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman are British agents who take on bad guy Sean Connery in this new film based on the old TV series of the same name.

Not much of this disjointed action film makes any real sense, and this makes The Avengers very tedious to sit through. That probably explains why Warner Brothers didn't allow press screenings of this would- be blockbuster.

Jeremiah Chechik, who directed Christmas Vacation, seems an unlikely choice to direct a movie of this scope. How he got this job is beyond me. Why Connery, Fiennes, and Thurman chose this project is painfully obvious. Big paychecks! The Avengers is a forgettable movie experience!
