Gregory
Hoblit's supernatural thriller starts off promising but it's credibility diminishes
by the second half. Denzel Washington plays a cop who sends a killer to death
row. As fate would have it, the killer actually turns out to be a supernatural
being who can transfer his evil spirit into other bodies with a single touch.
Fallen
tries to be a slick thriller like Seven and The Omen, without much success. It
doesn't have the atmosphere or character to reach the level of those films. Every
now and then, Denzel Washington likes to make a strange career move. This is one
of them. He's great as always, but his character isn't given much dimension. John
Goodman and Elias Koteas are great in supporting roles. Director Hobblit did a
much better job with Primal Fear, which was much more compelling than this. Fallen
has good production values and a couple of neat twists but ultimately, you just
can't buy into this nonsense.
