Cinderella gets a makeover in this live action telling of the famous fairy tale. The big surprise is how well this film actually works.

Andy Tennant, who last directed the lightweight romantic comedy Fools Rush In, directs Drew Barrymore in this beautiful looking romance that gets a big boost from superb performances by Barrymore, Dougray Scott, Jeanne Moreau, and a wickedly funny Anjelica Huston as the evil stepmother.

Fantastic art direction and stunning cinematography only add to this pleasant surprise of a movie. My only complaint with Ever After is that it runs a tad long. Still, this is one enchanting film.
