A
somewhat dismal Boogie Nights is the correct way to describe this. Writer-director
Mark Christopher doesn't seem to know which way to take his story about the famed
New York night club. At times, it's a morality tale involving a young man from
the wrong side of the tracks (New Jersey). Other times, the story revolves around
the impending doom that Studio 54 owner Steve Rubell (brilliantly played by Mike
Myers) brings upon himself by flaunting his non-compliance with the IRS. Ultimately,
the story's indecisiveness was the down fall of this 54.
