Forces of Nature (1999) Movie Review

As I sat through this quirky romantic comedy, I had a hard time figuring out the point. Surprisingly, by the final reel, I got it.

Ben Affleck (Armageddon) and Sandra Bullock (Speed) play complete opposites who find themselves fatefully thrown together in an attempt to get to Savannah, Georgia for Affleck's wedding. As expected, it's a long ride. Although there isn't a lot of heat between Affleck and Bullock, they're still extremely likable.

The film won me over because of its admirable effort at steering clear of the numerous romantic comedy cliches we've seen time and again. I also enjoyed its unpredictable climax--one that rang quite true.

Forces of Nature is one of those films that took time to get into, but after a while I really started to enjoy it. It's a whimsical road movie that might be worth checking out.
