BAFTA Nominations!

 Getting
the respect it duly deserves, Shaun of the Dead
has bagged two BAFTA nominations. The Brit Rom-Zom-Com
is up for The Alexander Korda Award For Outstanding
British Film of the Year and The Carl Foreman Award
For Special Acheivement By A British Director/ Producer
or Writer In Their First Feature Film (Nira Park, producer).
Matthew Vaughn is nominated in the same category for
his directorial debut, Layer Cake.
In
the other categories, Martin Scorsese has been nominated
for the Best Director gong, alongside Michel Gondry
(Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Michael
Mann (Collateral), Marc Forster (Finding Neverland)
and Mike Leigh (Vera Drake).
Charlize
Theron is eligible for the Best Actress award for her
work in Monster, nominated as the film was released
in the UK in 2004. Other candidates for that gong are
Kate Winslet, nominated TWICE for her roles in Eternal
Sunshine and Finding Neverland, Imelda Staunton
for Vera Drake and Ziyi Zhang for House of
Flying Daggers.
Up for Best Actor is Jamie Foxx for Ray, Johnny
Depp for Finding Neverland, Gael Garcia Bernal
for The Motorcycle Diaries Jim Carrey for Eternal
Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Golden Globe winner
Leonardo Di Caprio for The Aviator.
The
five up for Best Picture are The Aviator, Eternal
Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Finding Neverland,
The Motorcycle Diaries and Vera Drake.
