And so the film awards season roles on and here we have news on which films fared well in the National Society of Film Critics gongs over in the US.

The usual suspects were honoured, with Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby and Alexander Payne's Sideways fighting it out with Richard Linklater's Before Sunset and Mike Leigh's Vera Drake. The top award finally went to boxing drama, Million Dollar Baby, as the 46 members votes were counted at the Sardi's Restaurant in New York on Saturday. It wasn't all that bad for Sideways, as Jim Taylor and Alexander Payne received the best screenplay nod, while the movie's co-stars Virginia Madsen and Thomas Haden Church were named best supporting actress and best supporting actor. Best actress was a tie between Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby and Vera Drake's Imelda Staunton.

The bst actor award went to Jamie Foxx, who bagged the gong for his performances in both Collateral and Ray.
