The 2006 Oscar ceremony could be moved to a slightly later date, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences have stated that the event could take place on Sunday, March 6th, 2006. The reason is said to be due to the closing ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics being aired by NBC on the same day.

The Oscars have previously been held on the last Sunday in March, until organisers moved the ceremony forward a month for this years event.

This years awards take place on February 27th at the Kodak theater in Los Angeles.
