The first big film awards ceremony of 2005 is, of course, the Golden Globes which are handed out in January by the Hollywood Foreign Press, and this morning, the nominations for the gongs were announced. Jamie Foxx seems to have hit it big this year with no less than three nods, one for his turn as the legendary Ray Charles in Ray, the other for his turn opposite Tom Cruise in Michael Mann's Collateral and another for his work on the TV movie Redemption. The other big boys are Marc Forster's biopic of Peter Pan author JM Barrie, Finding Neverland. The film is in line for Best Picture - Drama, Forster gets a nod for Best Director, Johnny Depp does too for Best Actor, Jan A.P. Kaczmarek for Best Score and David Magee gets a look in for Best Screenplay. Other big players are Sideways (seven nominations), The Aviator (six nominations) and Closer (five nominations).
