Jurassic World 2 is coming in 2018

A sequel to this past summer’s Jurassic World was always going to happen, and now Jurassic World 2 has been officially been given the green light by Universal.

We reported yesterday that Jurassic World has become the third biggest film of all time, surpassing The Avengers and its sequel, and the seventh Fast and Furious movie, so it was just a matter of time before executives made the decision for a sequel to make a bow, and now it will happen in 2018.

Deadline are reporting that both Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return for Jurassic World 2, or whatever they decide to call it, but we’re guessing that director Colin Trevorrow won’t be back in the boss’s chair as he previously expressed an opinion that a new director must bring their vision to the series for each movie, a bit like the Star Wars saga, for which he’s rumoured to be helming the Episode 9.

Currently, Jurassic World has made $614.3 million in the North American territories, and a total $1.522 billion worldwide.

We have no further news on what we can expect from a sequel in three years, except the fact that Steven Spielberg and his Amblin Entertainment are sure to come back on board to produce.

Chris Pratt will head up a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel before tacking the dinos again (shooting is expected to start soon), and then he’s got the Passengers movie with Jennifer Lawrence, while Bryce Dallas Howard will next be seen in the remake of Pete’s Dragon.
